Sew-a-Thon

OCTOBER Sew-a-thon October 1 – 18th , 2020 is on now!

Sew 3 – 5 shopping bags at home for BC food banks so we can meet and exceed our goal of 1000 bags for 2020. Try the new bag technique, same pattern, new look  – see photos. Invite a friend to join the group. Everyone is welcome to keep one of the shopping bags they make and use it as a Christmas gift for family, friend, co-worker or neighbor.

FYI There will be no organized  Sew-a-thons in November and December however we hope that you continue sewing bags at home until we resume in January 2021.

NEED fabric?  We have pre-cut kits: includes bag, handles and a fabric bag solution label.  Pick up in Burnaby ( or can arrange to meet me somewhere ½ way) or Coquitlam ( serving Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Port Moody and Pitt Meadows and Fraser Valley).

FINISHED BAGS – what to do

1.      If you live in Burnaby, North Vancouver, Vancouver and New Westminster – please drop off your bags at Fabric Bag solution in Burnaby.

2.      If you live in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody please drop off your bags to Julie in Coquitlam – contact me for address etc.

3.     Everyone else in BC see https://www.foodbanksbc.com/find-a-food-bank/ to find the closest food bank to you.  Please call before you drop off your completed bags.  There are 100 locations in BC!

Small bits and pieces of fabric???

Piece them together, looks different and is a great way to use up smaller bits and pieces of fabric – see photos of polka dot bag in various stages.  The middle piece becomes the bottom of the bag.

There is an EASIER WAY TO SEW ON STRAPS  – see video clip on the Fabric Bag Solution facebook page.

NEXT SEW-A-thon? 2021????

Our next sew-a-thon…in person or at home,  is tentatively set for Saturday January 16, 2021. Stay tuned for more details.

Happy Sewing
